Mary Wright - Director of Care
Mary Wright was born and raised in North County Monaghan at Moybridge, which is on the borders of Monaghan and Tyrone. She is from the well known McQuaid family, local to the area where her parents still reside.
Mary, the eldest girl of seven brother and two sisters, attended Killybrone local primary school, followed by her secondary education at St. Louis Convent School in Monaghan Town. She embarked on her Nursing career in Craigavon Area Group School of Nursing, Co. Armagh and upon qualifying worked for a period as a Junior Staff Nurse in Craigavon Hospital. She then went to Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland, to study a postgraduate course in Midwifery where she qualified the following year.
She then secured a position in St. Vincents University Hospital, Elm Park, in Dublin where she worked in various disciplines for the following six years. She gained valuable experience in Acute Medicine, Acute Care of the Elderly in disignated unit, General Surgery, Orthopoedics, Neurosurgery and Thoracic Surgery. She progressed to Senior Staff Nurse level in Neurosurgery and Thoracic Surgery unit where she developed her management and organisational skills.
Deciding a change of career path she embarked on a one year sabbatical from St. Vincents Hospital to the Middle East for a position as Staff Nurse in King Abdul Azziz Universtiy Hospital in Jeddah. She met her Husband there and remained in the Middle East with her family until 1996.
